On any other social platform, this would be a disaster. The same thing happened to my friend group's TeamSpeak server, and we basically lost touch.

Here, on the Fediverse, it's a minor annoyance at best. Export your follow lists & move.

This is why #openweb is important.

And btw, IMO such an automateable #userAccounts #backup might well be made as an optional #premium #feature that could help admins part-finance their instances.

(Should also include the possibility to specify one's own external storage space.)
