Small Instances: might want pleroma -- it's got lower resource usage, so, savings.

Large Instances: probably mastodon -- it has better admin tools rn, which are likely to come up

Expanding Instances: umm.. I guess you intend to be large,, so mastodon,?, why are you asking this seperately..?

Mastodon tip: You can reply to your own toots. This won't put your username in the toot, but it /will/ mark your reply as part of a conversation.

Among other things, this makes it easier for others to follow what you're saying, if you're posting multiple toots in succession; all they have to do is click one toot and it'll expand the whole conversation thread.

GitHub adding some nice new features. I like the ability to "hide" a comment and give a constructive reason for why it was hidden.

I don't think there's many cases that justify the death penalty, unless we are talking /serious/ shit. I also don't think extrajudicial punishment is usually warranted. There are exceptions, like bin Laden, or active threats to life, but that's it. There's also war; it's a fact of life people die in war, and sadly, it happens.

But I don't really think murder is an effective way to purge shitbags from the world; more are born every minute, and /their/ tactics involve murder.
