Or— I just learned about this while looking for images and omg what a name—slime flux disease?
When searching, it always helps to know the species you’re looking at, at least hard or soft wood (the photo looks like a conifer but you knew that.)
@Fritillaria2 Thank you so much! I'll go read up on both of those. The blue stuff is on a douglas fir. I should have mentioned that.
@skiring Your welcome. ☺️ My reservation about blue stain fungus is that I see no blue streaking in the sapwood. It would radiate towards the heartwood. I’ve never heard of the stain getting pushed out via the sap, but I’m new at this. And I’ve never heard of that slime flux until today, but damn if I’m not going to learn about that one because SLIME. FLUX. Holy shit that’s awesome. Slime flux slime flux #slimeflux 😆
